In the online, self-paced certificate program in science of health care delivery, students acquire a foundation in the functions and features of health care systems, enabling them to address the current and future needs of the workforce in the health care industry.
Students can choose coursework from three focus areas:
- health policy and advocacy
- health systems management
- performance improvement in health care
Credits earned from this certificate program may be applied to the Master of Science program in health care administration and policy for students interested in furthering their knowledge in this field.

Additional Curriculum Information
Students select two courses (six credit hours) from any of the following focus areas: health policy and advocacy, health systems management, and performance improvement in health care. Students should contact the academic unit for a list of approved focus area courses.

Applicants must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and the College of Health Solutions.
Applicants must have earned a bachelor's or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution. The following disciplines are preferred: business or law (health care and business administration, economics, finance or law); engineering (biomedical engineering); general science (biology or physiology); a health-related field (nursing, health policy or public health); or math or computer science (statistics or computer science).
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in the last 60 hours of their first bachelor's degree program or a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 (scale is 4.00 = "A") in an applicable master's degree program.
All applicants must submit:
- graduate admission application and application fee
- official transcripts
- personal statement
- resume or curriculum vitae
- one reference (academic or professional)
- proof of English language proficiency
Additional Application Information
An applicant whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency regardless of their current residency.
A personal statement must be submitted that explains how the applicant plans to contribute to the health care system after obtaining the certificate, how the program will help them achieve their goals, what their career aspirations are, and what interested the applicant in the program.
Contact information for one reference is required. The reference is contacted via email to submit a letter of recommendation. The reference must be an academic or professional source; recommendations from friends or relatives are not accepted.

- Create a comprehensive plan to redesign care delivery to address a current health care delivery systems challenge.

3 year programs
These programs allow students to fast-track their studies after admission and earn a bachelor's degree in three years or fewer while participating in the same high-quality educational experience of a 4-year option. Students should talk to their academic advisor to get started.
Accelerated master's
These programs allow students to accelerate their studies to earn a bachelor's plus a master's degree in as few as five years (for some programs).
Each program has requirements students must meet to be eligible for consideration. Acceptance to the graduate program requires a separate application. Students typically receive approval to pursue the accelerated master’s during the junior year of their bachelor's degree program.
