Aircraft Maintenance C - Aircraft Maintenance (Avionics Technician)

Location: Tucson, AZ ( Must relocate to Arizona)

Summary: Performs aircraft avionics/electronics systems and components, Electro/Environmental, and associated component repair and maintenance. Conducts fault isolation, repairs, removal and replacement of components to resolve avionics or electrical discrepancies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Responsible for testing, inspection, repair, and removal and replacement of avionic systems and components on the Gulfstream EC37B aircraft. • Repairs aircraft wiring/wiring harnesses. • Performs operational checkout of aircraft avionics systems during pre-flight and post-flight as necessary. • Responds to flight/maintenance crew reported discrepancies by troubleshooting and repairing any systems to make aircraft ready for flight for quick turn-around. • Assists in launch, recovery, servicing, and ground handling of aircraft. • Performs scheduled/unscheduled inspections as required in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) procedures. • Prepares and maintains aircraft maintenance records and historical documents. • Accomplishes maintenance manpower and aircraft maintenance actions using the program maintenance database system. • Reviews and utilizes maintenance data collection reports. • Monitors/reviews deficiency reports for adverse trends. • Uses applicable technical orders/manuals when performing maintenance, and to troubleshoot aircraft/systems discrepancies. • Performs in-progress and follow-up inspections during and upon completion of maintenance actions. • Researches, orders and receives aircraft parts or components necessary to make repairs. • Prepares parts for turn-in back into the supply system. Required Education and Experience:

+ Must have a minimum of eight (8) years recent hands-on avionics maintenance experience and a current FAA A&P Certificate is desired.

+ Completion of a military or civilian aviation avionics technical school or possess an FCC License with endorsements is preferred.

+ Recent work experience on Gulfstream, Global Jet, or business jet avionics maintenance experience is preferred and desired.

+ Experience on maintaining Honeywell Primus systems preferred.

+ Experience in repair and maintenance of radar, communications, nav-aids, lighting and instrumentation.

+ Support repair and maintenance of Mission Support ISR equipment as required.

+ Must have a positive attitude, be a self-starter, work well with others.

+ Must be able to work shifts as assigned and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required. CONUS and OCONUS deployment may be required.

**What You Will Do**

+ Perform duties related to assembly, maintenance, and repair of boilers, pressure vessels, tanks and vats by performing a variety of complex welding processes such as electric resistance, oxy acetylene or arc torches.

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, and aircraft servicing functions on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment and in accordance with applicable instructions.

Principal Accountabilities:

+ Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, technical manuals, and other data as applicable.

+ Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.

+ Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.

+ May be required to fly on Government aircraft for relocation, to conduct in-flight checks (test flights) and to conduct trouble shooting that cannot be completed on the ground.

+ May be required to perform official travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States.

+ Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft (necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by the customer).

+ May be required to perform other duties as required to support the overall mission.

Minimum Requirements:

+ Must possess and maintain a valid State driver’s license.

+ Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship required to obtain clearance.

+ High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.

+ Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.

+ Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and aircraft systems to include airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and aircraft engines.

+ Must be competent and knowledgeable in system troubleshooting, reading and interpretation of schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and FAA, Company, and other Directives.

+ Must be reliable and demonstrate good judgment.

+ Able to follow base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.

+ Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.

+ Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.

+ The ability to comprehend/interpret technical data.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

+ Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.

+ Ability to move freely about the interior and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.

+ Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.

+ May be required to wear a respirator.

+ Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.

+ On occasions, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Prefer at least two years of experience working rotary-wing aircraft.

+ C206 and AS350 experience highly desired.
