NDS HVAC Maintenance Technician

Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a defense contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired systems; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.

At Nammo Defense Systems Inc., we take our core values seriously, Precision, Dedication and Care. We are currently seeking a HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our team. The qualified individual will install, service, modify, rebuild, and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

+ Charges and recovers refrigerant from air conditioning and refrigeration equipment following all EPA regulations.

+ Installs, services, modifies, and repairs numerous types of air conditioning, refrigeration, dehumidification, heating, and air handling equipment.

+ Performs preventative maintenance on all environmental equipment.

+ Designs, fabricates ad installs ductwork.

+ Designs and installs piping systems for PVC, copper and steel which require sizing, cutting, gluing, threading, brazing, and silver soldering.

+ Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs electric power and control circuits. Installs conduit and wiring to equipment.

+ Maintains a clean work and equipment area.

+ Other duties as assigned.

The qualified individual will also repair and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools and conveyor systems and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

+ Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.

+ Dismantles machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.

+ Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.

+ Assembles and installs equipment using hand and power tools.

+ Aligns machines. Lubricates and cleans parts.

+ Performs routine inspection and maintenance; performs preventative maintenance.

+ Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to make new parts and to repair existing parts.

+ Designs, fabricates, and installs pneumatic and hydraulic power and control systems.

+ Works with other trades and departments to automate production process equipment.

+ Overhauls and repairs numerous types of equipment (air compressors, mixers, V-blenders, tablet presses and laser welders).

+ Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

+ Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Starts devices to test their performance.

+ Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.

+ Sets up and operates lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

+ Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.

Required Experience & Skills:

+ High School or General Education Diploma (GED). 5+ years of related experience.

+ Universal Refrigerant Handling Certificate

+ Knowledge of heating and theory and application; knowledge of heating and electronics; skill in silver soldering.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

+ Wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific phases of the job and their practical application to highly complex problems and situations.

+ Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and employees.

+ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

+ Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.

+ Ability to obtain ATF Processor license.
