**Responsibilities**

The MCA Cancer Center - Director of Minority/Underserved Populations Cancer Outreach Program will develop and maintain community-based infrastructures and linkages that provide expertise in culturally competent cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment activities in racial/ethnic minority and underserved populations. The Director will make recommendations to Mayo Clinic Cancer Center and MCA leaders and will participate in implementation as so directed concerning strategies and tactics aimed at:

- Developing community education, research, and training activities to reduce cancer disparities.

- Improving MCA Cancer Center's accrual rate of ethnic/racial minority patients enrolled in cancer clinical trials.

- Expanding access to MCA patient care services.

The Director will develop, submit, and support collaborative research projects that span the spectrum investigative issues related to reducing cancer health disparities.

The MCA Director of Transplant Outreach Program will develop and maintain community-based infrastructures and linkages that provide expertise in culturally competent transplant awareness and clinical factors that may merit transplant evaluation, and will facilitate the referral process for external referring physicians. The Director will make recommendations to MCA's Transplant Center and MCA leaders and will participate in implementation as so directed concerning strategies and tactics aimed at:

- Developing community education in end stage renal disease, end stage liver disease, and end stage heart disease.

- Increasing MCA's Transplant Center number of external referrals. This will require local travel to physicians' offices, dialysis centers, and other healthcare providers to inform and educate.

- Expanding access to MCA's patient care services.

The Director will develop, submit, and support collaborative projects that span the spectrum of patient, nurse, and physician education regarding the process of transplant. Will also design, develop, and implement a strategic outreach plan by organ program and report metrics monthly to the Transplant Center Director and the Operations Administrator of the Transplant Center.

The Director in either role, through his/her professional relationships with clinical and administrative Mayo Clinic leaders, will maintain a current inventory of internal resources that may be applied toward such infrastructure and linkages. Furthermore, the Director will utilize his/her experience in obtaining extramural support and his/her professional relations with local, state, and federal agency representatives to augment internal resources, and to ensure compatible and cooperative efforts are employed when establishing such infrastructure and linkages. The Director must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span, and competence in understanding and respecting cultural differences.

**Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree and six years of equivalent experience required; master's degree and four years of equivalent experience preferred.

Minimum five years of experience in developing, managing, and/or participating in medical/clinical, and/or research outreach activities in racial/ethnic minority and/or underserved populations.

Knowledge of extramural funding agencies and processes (Cancer Center Outreach).

Knowledge of current market dynamics (Transplant Center Outreach).Registered Nurse licensure preferred for Transplant Center Outreach.
