The **Computing and Information Technology Directorate** works to re-imagine how digital technologies can simplify the research experience, enable data-driven insights for decision makers, and accelerate PNNL’s research missions. CIT helps connect staff to systems while enabling a broader research computing ecosystem to improve productivity and provide a sense of community.

The Research Computing Division strives to be at the forefront of driving scientific discovery through cutting-edge computational tools and resources to ensure our talented scientists and engineers are equipped with the everything they need to accelerate groundbreaking research. From Web Development and High Performance Computing to Machine Learning environments, Research Computing is the backbone of innovative research.

As we navigate the future, Research Information Management stands pivotal. We're shaping an integrated Information and Data Management capability, weaving together a cohesive web of research information from proposal inception to publication and beyond. Joining our Research Information Services team means diving deep into this ecosystem, bridging the gap between technology and information dissemination.

To continue supporting this exciting work, we are actively recruiting a highly motivated, service-oriented individual for the role of **Research Librarian 3** . The selected candidate will play a significant role in supporting PNNL’s publishing goals and public access requirements. We are looking for someone with technical acumen complemented by a genuine enthusiasm for working collaboratively, sharing knowledge, and delivering quality information services to help drive PNNL’s knowledge dissemination strategies, amplifying the reach and accessibility of our scientific endeavors. They will work hand-in-hand with a diverse research community, offering insights, training, and support, and they will help us shape the future of scholarly communication, from open-access initiatives to cutting-edge data sharing practices.

_We prefer a candidate who can be onsite or work a hybrid schedule at our Richland campus or remote/hybrid out of Seattle but we will consider applicants who are virtual._

**Responsibilities**

+ Engage and collaborate with researchers to foster best practices for disseminating PNNL research outputs, ensuring alignment with DOE public access requirements and organizational publishing goals.

+ Craft and deliver dynamic educational programs, catering to the needs of our multidisciplinary research community.

+ Provide support for library digital collections to enhance connectivity across scientific outputs, including the Library ERM (Ex Libris Alma) and other tools that enhance researcher productivity and drive networked science.

+ Collaborate across the division, directorate, and lab to create innovative ways for sharing research products using digital technologies.

+ Participate in ongoing digital transformation within our division and group through innovation and support of technical and social solutions that support sharing of research products and outcomes.

+ Promote and represent Research Computing, our group, and our teams across withing the lab and when representing PNNL in external professional venues.

**Qualifications**

Minimum Qualifications:

+ MS/MA or higher in Library Science and 3 year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

+ 2+ years supporting scientists and engineers at a research institution (government/academic/corporate).

+ Knowledge of scientific research processes and the ability to assist researchers navigating scientific information, including research data.

+ Experience with citation databases, scientific literature collections, citation management tools, and other platforms or services commonly used by researchers to find and manage information.

+ Demonstrated information/data literacy and consultation skills and ability to deliver effective presentations and workshops to varied audiences, including researchers, managers, and other stakeholders.

+ Solid understanding of current and emerging trends in open access publishing, open science practices, and other scholarly communication topics.

+ Demonstrated experience with library systems, including ERM (Ex Libris Alma preferred), catalog and repository systems, and relevant metadata schema/standards.

+ Experience with data analytics and delivering professional, insightful reports; knowledge of PowerBi/Tableau or similar platforms desired.

+ Collaborative spirit, coupled with adaptability in evolving priorities and rapidly shifting technical environments.

+ Additional preference for:

+ Background in Biosciences.

+ Knowledge of basic programming/scripting concepts, APIs, and data cleaning tools such as OpenRefine/GoogleRefine.

In accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 473.1A, new employees are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.
