Summary This position is located in the Behavioral Health Department at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), within Ambulatory Services. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the incumbent ensures patients receive quality patient centered integrated mental health care that is consistent with the patient-centered medical home principles, and that care is timely, appropriate, cost effective, sensitive and coordinated to achieve desired clinical outcomes. Responsibilities **This position is being re-advertised to solicit additional applications. Applicants who applied previously need not reapply unless submitting updated and/or missing information.** Independently provides expert diagnostic evaluations for adolescent, parent and family cases to include complete formal mental health evaluations, written in the medical model with clinical diagnosis, treatment plan and all required documentation. Provides short-term therapy and coordinates appropriate transition to specialty Behavior Health when longer term therapy or more complex services are needed. Provides case management services to patients and families, as needed. Provides information and referrals to community resources, and assist patients in utilization of federal, state, local, and private community resources. Provides quality clinical consultation to providers and staff in areas of individual, family, child and adolescent, regarding mental and behavioral health related issues that are directly connected to the patient's medical condition. Collects data from multiple sources using assessment techniques that are appropriate to the patient's age, language, culture, and prior diagnoses and recognizes special risks, including social and developmental concerns. **This position is being announced concurrently under Delegated Examining Plan (DE) procedures. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S), GS-0185: Degree: social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications and Selective Placement Factor stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples Include: providing integrated comprehensive mental health and social services to ambulatory care patients. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR, License: Applicants who do not meet a selective factor are ineligible for further consideration. Must have ability to independently perform clinical social work functions with demonstration of advanced knowledge and skill in the management of complex social work scenarios as indicated by possession of one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); or Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW); or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment and/or Relocation Incentives may be authorized and is subject to availability and service unit approval. If offered, you will be required to sign a one (1) year service agreement.
